September 19 – 23
Many of us appreciate the pleasures of the table and several of us did not hesitate to publish their recent culinary discoveries on the social networks. However, little is said about hunger itself and the publications in this sense are rather discreet in the social media.
As part of hunger awareness week, Moisson Sud-Ouest wishes to highlight the solvable problem of hunger in the regional county municipalities (MRC) of Beauharnois-Salaberry, Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Haut-Saint-Laurent. We invite you to join the social networks for the week of this awareness in order to learn more on hunger in Quebec and in the region of the Suroît.
- More than 400,000 people go hungry in Quebec each month 150,000 of whom are children.
- More than 8,274 people go hungry in the Suroît each month 3,607 of whom are children.
Since its creation in 1989, Moisson Sud-Ouest is the only food bank of the Suroît accredited by Food Bank Canada and Food Banks of Quebec. Through partnerships developed with 94 suppliers, Moisson Sud-Ouest redistributes annually to 65 partner organizations a total of 905,842 kg in perishable and non-perishable foodstuffs.
Your donations can make a difference since each 1$ received translates to $7 in value of food redistributed.
